Dunno where else to post this, so I figured I'd post it here.
Pic related is my first attempt at a map for a fictional world, which would be the setting of a roleplaying/nation-game forum game I was going to host somewhere else. I decided it wasn't exactly what I wanted, but was a good step in the right direction.
can you guys give me some advice on improving it? I'm not going for a LOTR-style map (i.e. dated contemporary map, but rather an accurate representation of geography) and hope to make it look realistic and clearly inspired by Earth, but altogether unique (i.e. not literally making the Warhammer map, which is retarded).
the borders of the continents/islands looks a bit fucky because I made a mistake when using the global bucket tool to paint land green.
should i start with an even larger resolution so I can maximize coastal detail? What about shape of continents? Should I try to map out where tectonic plates would be so that continent shape/placement would be more accurate?
