Anyway OP, your rig should be able to handle games made up to 2003 just fine, though 2004 was kind of a big turning point since it's when Doom 3 and Half Life 2 came out. If you can find ORIGINAL copies of these games that don't have updated engines however, then you should be able to play them without too much difficulty. HL2 will need a non-Steam crack though, and I'm not sure if the current version they sell on Steam will even be playable on your hardware.
Also, just curious, but why are you stuck with such an old machine? I mean, it actually sounds somewhat decent for a P4 era box, but I'm just wondering if it's like a hand me down machine or something you found next to someone's trash. I mean, it amazes me when people manage to get by with computers others would consider junk.
