>>1551686the elements of style by will strunk is a pretty og book on grammar and syntax but for actual writing it's all very subjective. i would start with poetry just making sure you can write in iambic pentameter and know what a sonnet is or maybe you already know these things. good prose is less about words and more about making deep cuts using various kinds of resonance. using overly flowery or prosaic language comes with a certain responsibility to back it up, similarly any conceptual pretension present in the work needs to be 'earned' i.e you need to arrive at it through a grounded framework of ideas not just drop it out of thin air. to me these are the most important elements of good writing if you can master these you'll immediately be a better writer than 99% of planet earth
