- narrator ruins all the good scenes
- dreadful pacing, particularly in the CA arc
- unimaginative direction; slavish adaptation of the comic; massive failure to play to the strengths of the medium
- huge plot arcs happen off screen because the writer can't be fucked (essentially everything involving Kurapika)
- no real idea where it's going: "hey, there's this whole outside world that you'll never see because I'm too busy playing Dragon Quest".
And while I'm at it, here's some love for the manga:
- Looks like it was drawn by a child with a six-foot-long pencil
- never fucking releases, because the author cocklodges with the writer of Sailor Moon, and has never in his life had to treat the job like a job.
