10 years ago I would have told you to learn gesture, construction, anatomy/proportions, form, perspective, and do a ton of life drawing, but now, I’d say just draw and don’t worry about the quality. At most read this:
http://benzilla.com/uploads/StanchfieldBook.pdfand get going. You can spend years gitting gud, and there are definitely some perks, but you really just learn all the rules to break them and I find that having all the rules in mind it can be a bit hard to break free from them and you’ll often times just end up emulating artists you like rather than drawing like yourself. We live in the age of AI art, so anybody can be “skilled” now, but being truly original, that’s the trick. I’d say once you understand gesture drawing just keep drawing what you like how you like until you refine it. If you just want to draw really good, just download Stable Diffusion as the effort to get to the end goal usually isn’t satisfying.
