I done a diskpart and made the partition with C the active drive, then tried FixBoot again. This time it gave an "Access Denied" error. I just restarted the PC and apparently everything works fine. (Pic related)
The laptop with the new drive now works "good as new" as fast as it was about 6 months or so before the crash that happened on the 11th of this month. Opening My Computer is not slow anymore, and explorer.exe is no longer in a crashing loop. CPU usage went up to 100% for a long while, but that's probably because AVG is being more malware rather than anti-malware. Surprised to see that happen after it managed to save my laptop about 8 years ago.
