>>1209003Here. Just start watching shit and don't think too hard about it. Anime is honestly not that big, a lot of the great stuff is already well known, you really don't need to dig around that much until you've already gotten through all of the known stuff.
Not sure if I should be saying this to someone new but I also strongly believe in the three episode rule and I think everyone should stick with it too. Basically, if a show can't capture your attention by the end of the third episode, just drop it no matter how well regarded it is. Most things do get better later on, but even then they'll still show at least one interesting thing by episode 3.
