Most anime does not confront any "difficult issues" or offers an unique vision from the author about life and our world.
Most anime are escapist tales meant for entertainment and designed to appeal to your lower instincts, like there are no ugly people in anime.
If you want me to go to a concrete example Franz Kafka's the Metamorphosis is about how one feels like a cockroach when one doesn't have a place within the household and how horrible it feels to be powerless while the people you love have to take care of themselves when they should not, Gregor's dad had to come out of retirement and his sister had to give up her musical career.
Yashahime is the most recent anime I saw, I do not think it has any larger subjects, it doesn't confront anything it just has cool action scenes, cute characters and plot hooks that keep you invested but nothing else. Kafka is fine wine and Yashahime is junk food
