>>1478999If OP is a retard and gets the wrong resistor rating (like I did) the caps might take longer to discharge than he thinks, and the cap will still be hot when he touches it. I use a neon or halogen bulb to bridge the contacts. This gives you some visual feedback because the light will go out when the caps are discharged.
I've touched the leads of a small 450v cap before. Fortunately, since the leads were so close together, nothing happened but two tiny black holes burned into my epidermis. Now I put a bleeder resistor or neon light across the leads of any dangerous caps.
