Linux Gaming - Want to make the switch to Linux, but muh vidya

Used Windows all my life and I fucking hate it now, can't stand it anymore. Thinking of making the switch to Linux, but I have 300+ games in my Steam library, most of which I doubt support Linux.
Main games I'd like to be able to keep playing would be Halo Wars Definitive Edition, Nier Automata, SCP Secret Lab and Hell Let Loose.
I know jack squat about Linux, so could somebody explain how to get Windows only games running on that OS, or a post an image detailing it?
Can any Linux users tell me if it's worth it or not?
Also what Linux model is best for gaming? I was thinking of going Ubuntu.
And does my GPU affect anything? I'm using a 1050 Ti, and on Windows 8.1 it keeps giving me endless pop ups about system incompatibility even though I turned off system updates. Would a 1050 Ti give similar errors on a Linux OS?
