>>1240478>Best epub / PDF readers for windows XP?You'll have to look on the old program archive sites for the very oldest versions of many of the modern epub readers. It would have to be compiled under WinXP or Windows VISTA to be compatible with winXP.
My favorite light weight ebook client is FBReader. The old version was GPL freeware, but newer versions 2.0 onwards are proprietary. I recommend you use FBReader 0.12.10
Version 0.12.10 quoted official description:
FBReader is an e-book reader for Linux/Windows XP PDA/UMPC/desktop computer. FBReader supports several e-book formats: ePub, fb2, chm, rtf, plucker, etc. Direct reading from zip, tar, gzip and bzip2 archives is also supported.
The current version 2.0 at the official
fbreader.org website is technically version 1.999.16. It is meant for win10 onwards. So you should download old version 0.12.10 for use with WinXP and Windows VISTA. WinXP is 32-bit, so if you download any epub readers that are 64-bit programs, that will be fail.
https://fbreader.en.softonic.com/The URL above is the last remaining online source I know of for version 0.12.10 of FBReader. This older version works all the way from WinXP to Win10. I started with it on Vista and kept on using it thru Win10 without problem. It keeps track of ebooks and resumes where you left off if you closed the ebook before finishing it.
