Computer got zapped during thunder a week or two back. Had hoped only the psu died, but after getting a new one it's obviously worse than that. The current probably got in through the ethernet cable. Thing is the motherboard is showing signs of life. The little display is showing an error code. Some error leds are lighting up. Apart from that the fans spin, gpu has power (and seems to work at a glance in my previous, ancient pc) . Peripherals and HDD confirmed alive, can't say about the m.2 because I have nothing to test it in. Clearing CMOS had some kind of observable effect; the fans on one of the headers which previously span are stalled now.
Pardon the lengthy intro, but it seemed relevant to the point. Is there any point in getting a new z370 motherboard, or is my i7 8700k, beyond reasonable doubt, ruined? The rest of the components I expect I'll find out about, although if you could take a qualified guess at their state I would appreciate it, but the main thing is that I don't want to get an older board while grasping for straws and ending up having to buy another older cpu as well in case that's not enough.
