>>890040Space Battleship Yamato 2199, also known as "Star Blazers 2199" is very newb-friendly to any scifi nerd. I get classic Star Trek vibes from it. The english dub is alright and it's not particularly japaneesy. The plot has some dents and scratches but is mostly just solid and simple.
It has a sequel called 2202, which is truly great when it gets its thing together, but spends most of its time wondering what it wants to achieve. It's a telenovela.
