I have a boot drive with Windows 7 that I would like to reuse on another computer with similar components, with exception to the processor and motherboard, as it would be strongly preferable to not have to deal with reinstalling and configuring everything again. I have heard of using sysprep to generalize a drive, but I don't have other computers to test this with. Would anyone happen to know if the vast majority of the data on that boot drive will remain accessible from a new computer? If there is any data loss that might be of concern, what would that be? Is using sysprep even necessary?
