you've offered no substance. OP should just have as much right to obtain knowledge of the ongoings in his family. you're dictating a generalized mentality that might not even apply to his situation. most importantly, he did not ask for a general outlook on the situation, or for people to hear him out

it's OP's responsibility to mold these perspectives into HIS final set of actions. HIS rewards, and consequences are be determined as a matter of where HE is, who HE is, what HE does, whom HE'S involving in his predicament, and what THOSE people tell HIM in return
