Gundam Build Fighters. It's a fun show about building plastic robots that then fight in massive detailed VR arenas to make plastic robots seem more fun than they actually are. There's a plastic robot Fight Club, plastic robot Interpol, and plastic robots end up endangering, then saving, the world.

The sequels are shit and not worth watching.

here's 1 from each genre that I know of and might be good for beginners
Action: Attack on titan (it has been the trending anime for a while and is actually good)
Comedy: Konosuba (also under isekaii , watch it b4 other isekai as it is in my opinion one of the better isekai
Isekai: Re:Zero
Slice of Life: your lie in april(decent but after you watch some of the other anime in the same genre this anime feels like it should not have worked so enjoy it while you can)
Adventure: HxH
Drama: Stein's Gate
mystery: Deathnote
psychological: Psycho-pass
Harem: unironically highschool DxD
Sports: Haikyuu (I guess) I started with kuroko no basket because that was big back then but now it translates to I hate sports anime
Mecha:Code geass
Romance: Toradora
again all of these are anime that I believe are not very overwhelming in their respective genre not the best by any means
here's my favourite(not necessarily best) from each genre tho
Action: Attack on titan (probably because it was recent)
Comedy: Joshiraku/Asobi Asobase
isekai: I really liked Overlord season 1
slice of life: Hyouka
Adventure : Samurai Champloo
Drama: Anohana
mystery: Durarara
psychological: NGE
Harem: BokuBen
Mecha: NGE( again because I haven't seen some of the supposedly better Mecha anime)
Sports: Haikyuu for sure

This is a bad recommendation for a newcomer. Joshiraku heavily references other anime, something a newcomer would not get. It also references contemporary Japanese issues, politics, and locations, which unless you are actually Japanese and grew up in Tokyo in 2000s and 2010s or are an intense, hardcore weeaboo you will not get. Asobi Asobase is good, though.
