How to compose music?

I would like to compose music and I have no idea where I can find resources about music composition. I already play the guitar and I know how to write music but I would like to learn how to write good music. Is there some book explaining how do you make your music sounds good?

it depends what you want to write, different genres of music have very different forms
for classical music, there is a book by schoenberg, Fundamentals of Musical Composition, you can find it on libgen i think

if you are interested in classical music, this is a free online textbook which has midi examples you can play and listen too

I also write music and lyrics. I’m fine with writing melodies. I learned to play the guitar since childhood. But the texts are much more difficult for me. Then it becomes much easier to compose songs. I recently wrote a cool song about ww1. Maybe it will be useful for you.
