Recoverin of ext4 partition

No.101828 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hello /wsr/. Hev problem, looking for ideas. I have a hard drive with linux partitions on it that I was intending to backup. loaded manjaro from a live USB, mounted drive fine, but had permission errors copying so on a whim I tried to boot from the OS that was installed on the drive (it was working fine in another computer but the computers GPU died so I pulled the drive out.)

It threw out a bunch of errors (which I was expecting) then had a kernel panic (ok i guess?) so i restarted and booted back into the livecd only now I can't see the partitions or mount them. I ran testdisk and it seems to think the filesystem is corrupted. I'm kind of hesitant to do anything (more) destructive at the moment. What the hell happened anyway? the distro on the drive was PCLinuxOS, whatever that is.

Trying to recover from gparted just tells me it can't find any recognised filesystems on the partition
