Is there any free program that lets me trim a video without changing its format or quality? i cant use any online one either has the video is quite heavy and all the ones i have found convert the video after doing the trimming

That depends on how particular you are about the trim. Almost all widespread codecs are progressive - they encode a keyframe as a full picture and then just save the changes/differences for each frame until the next keyframe. So you can't just arbitrarily cut without reencoding the whole thing. You can always trim frame-perfectly from the end, but if you trim from the start (or in the middle) you can only cut at keyframes. If you do that you don't need to reencode, meaning it's lightning fast and doesn't lose quality.

ffmpeg can of course do it but you probably wouldn't be asking if you were familiar with it. Avidemux is a simple GUI for ffmpeg with keyframe support if you don't know the timecode already. webm related is from a tutorial I did 6 years ago that shows you the basic operation (keyframes = intra frames). Beware, Avidemux has a lot more limitations than the underlying ffmpeg, for instance it can't handle subtitles.

ffmpeg, it cuts them instantly or without re-encoding (just run cmd go to where the videos are, use the line below, the first set of 00's are for picking the starting time it goes like hours:minutes:seconds. the second set of 00's are the time you want to add after the first cut). Also you can join multiple videos easily.

ffmpeg -ss 00:00:00.0 -i input.mp4 -c copy -t 00:00:00.0 output.mp4

Avidemux seems to have done the trick! i tried using ffmpeg but i cant even get it running as i am a brainlet,thank you for the help anon

Same as above,i couldn't even get to run the thing when i clicked the application it just closed instantly,the help is appreciated though

You need to run ffmpeg from a command like, I believe. You open cmd, change directory to where the exe is, then run a command like the one anon posted.
