can i get some recommendations for your guys' best atmospheric anime
i dont know any better way of asking for something specific so this'll just work, but i'll probably have seen most of them

not necessarily but slice of life is sometimes good, but i tend to not like high school shit
but i mean more like sad or apocalyptic/supernatural stuff, which those themes tend to be really good
like girls last tour or made in abyss, i just feel like i've hit a wall with finding more anime like them, like i've watched all of them

Angel's Egg, Kino's Journey (The old one. The new TV anime is bad), Mushishi, Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei, Ghost in the Shell (1995)
All highly well-regarded classics in one sense or another. Refer to the chart for others if you want more, just know it's probably a decade old by now, so it won't have anything new.
As for newer ones or things not on that list: Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Rain Town, Midori-ko ( https://nyaa.si/view/637822 ), Monster, Jin-Roh, Tsumiki no Ie, and a bunch of things from omnibuses like Memories, Neo Tokyo, Robot Carnival, Animatrix, and others.

You've only seen the newer one? I'm so sorry. Unless you meant you've only heard of the newer one. But, yeah, the original one is great.
Also, from your other post mentioning Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou and Made in Abyss, I'm getting the feeling you haven't watched Mushishi. If that's the case, I highly recommend it, as it's one of the best atmospheric anime.

The new one adapts different stories from the light novels, except for one, that being the Colosseum. Regardless, the series isn't really chronological, so it doesn't end up mattering too much. In fact, when the first volume was released in America, they apparently re-ordered the stories to be chronological, which upset the author, and no other volumes have been released for it since then, which is pretty sad. They've all got fan translations, at least.

well i imagine fan translations are sometimes a bit better than the official translations due to more critiquing and that the translators are probably neets with more time than the creators
