I need a book to read. I've never read a book in my life apart from school when I was younger. Where should I start?

Of Mice and Men is short and is a good starting place book, and has quite an ending that could get you into books. But the setting could get a little boring if you can't visualise it very well.

When it comes to getting yourself into reading, pick stuff that you think you'll like and don't just force yourself to read the "classics" for the sake of reading classics. The reason being is that you will expect more out of the classics and it might not live up to ts reputation, and could put you off.

Catcher in the Rye might resonate with you, and is pretty straightforward read.
Blood Meridian has great prose
Ender's Game has an interesting premise, and is also an easy read.

Honestly Harry Potter. There is a reason the books are so popular. My gf also hated reading and never read anything. Gave her that book, she really liked them (because they're easy to read and enjoyable) and then progressed to better literature

I revisted it a couple of years ago, and it honestly does not hold up after childhood. The setting is comfy, but the plot is rushed and the characters and writing don't redeem it any. It's worse than it should be

back when learned english I'd suggested ellen & edgar, well until this day, I remember these books as being good, maybe give them a shot, otherwise, what are you looking for? Heard Stephen King is good at writing, but could be that you aint into horror. Otherwise why not asking /lit?

My personal favourit so far liber Chaos by peter j. caroll (not some story book)
