As for unexpected surprises, holy shit is Hai-Furi good. Though I guess it wouldn't have been a surprise if I had known the staff beforehand.
I'm also liking Shonen Maid a lot, and I expected to drop it after one episode. Same with Bungou Stray Dogs.
Sakamoto Desu Ga is great if you liked Daily Lives of High School Boys.
Oh, and speaking of Flying Witch and Nichibros, Tanaka-kun is pretty enjoyable too.
Netoge is pretty much the meme anime of the season.
Pretty strong season, I must say. AOTS is a strong fight between Ushio to Tora, Macross Delta, Joker Game, Kumamiko and Hai-Furi, with Sakamoto and Bungou Stray Dogs behind by just a bit.

But seriously OP, both Mayoiga and Kiznaiver are Mari Okada shows, so expect the shittiest, most pretentious, most clichéd, most edgy script with the biggest loopholes possible from both of them. I'm still somewhat enjoying them because I'm an idort, but I'm also enjoying the likes of Hundred, Assterisk, 12sai. and Phoenix Wright, so that doesn't say much. And hell, I'd take Hundred, Assterisk, 12sai. and Phoenix Wright over Mayoiga and Kiznaiver, which is a shame because I love the character designers and directors for both. Luckily for me, Hai-Furi has a lot of Mizushima vibes (GuP Mizushima though), Trigger is also doing Luluco, and Joker Game also has Miwa Shirow character design. Too bad the KanColle and Gingitsune animus character designer is wasting her talents in Mayoiga, but what can you do.
