I made the absolutely retarded decision of enabling One Drive so I could have my files on 2 computers and now whenever I try to download certain stuff it doesn't appear where it should be and the only way to find it is to search for it manually. Disabling One Drive did not fix this. Do I have to just back everything up and factory reset?

So once you find it, pay attention to where it was, and that's where the unspecified program you're using to download it is downloading it to.

No, because when I download something to folder x and I go to folder x, it isn't there, but when I search for it manually, it still says it's in folder x.

Lol, never use microsoft services. They're shit and never work the way they're supposed to. If you insist on using Windows, at least turn off all the bullshit such as one drive etc. that never works the way it's supposed to

Yes I'm aware of that now. The issue is that disabling One Drive didn't fix the problem.

There could be reasons completely unrelated to OneDrive for this to happen, such as download managers. You aren't telling us what you download, from where, or using what, so are we gonna play 20 questions or what?

I am positive it's One Drive. It only seems to affect my Documents folder. Specifically, when I download music off Soulseek, it won't appear in my Soulseek folder, but when I search for the music manually, it will say it's in that folder.

Let me put it as clear as I can.

are you 100% sure the filepath is exactly the same as the filepath to the folder you think it should be in but it isn't? in other words, are you 100% sure there are not 2 "Soulseek Downloads" folders on your computer?

also, did you put all your folders in your OneDrive folder?

I'm not at home rn so I can't check for sure but I'm almost positive that there isn't a second folder. The issue seems to only be with stuff under Documents as it has a red X on top of it. I think One Drive is mentioning it can't sync everything. I'd rather just turn the thing off but like I said, when I did that it fixed nothing.

Is the file there or not? It can't simultaneously exist and not exist, if you can open it then it is definitely there.
What does cmd.exe say?

Sounds like a bad reference link. Check to make sure the local and remote folders are properly linked. Searching your whole computer is probably finding the actual location the reference link is missing.

What, *precisely*, are you doing at this step? For example are you:
- opening an explorer window and clicking a shortcut to it in the LHS pane?
- typing "soulseek downloads" into the start menu and clicking on what comes up?
- typing the exact and absolute path into Run?
- browsing to it from the My Computer icon on the desktop?

It's there but it's like it's hidden. But hidden files are enabled to be visible so it can't be that.

I click on File Explorer > Documents > Soulseek Downloads. If I search for a song within Soulseek Downloads, it will not show up. But if I search it from the start of File Explorer, where it scans your whole PC, then it will show up, but the file path will say it's in Soulseek Downloads.
If this still isn't making sense then I'll record a video once I get home.

On W10 (and possibly earlier), Documents is a library, not a shortcut to \users\<you>\Documents

Try:
- pressing the windows key
- typing "run"
- pressing enter
- pasting in "%UserProfile%\Documents"
- pressing enter
