What's the name of this kind of music? I've been learning some theory. How can I learn specific theory for this kind of music? I want to know how they make stuff like this, but I can't even understand it on an intellectual level.

could you at least describe how this genre sounds ? I couldnt pin down what it has in common besides being relaxing and western-sounding ... maybe you're thinking lounge music? or any other sort of north american easy listening music ?

Not sure, but if it helps, it all sounds a lot like the ending theme of a low-budget japanese video game: usually just soft, music-box remixes of one of the game's main theme songs.

it's easy listening, can be electronic. some can sound like they come from a music box. could be called "bgm," "cute bgm," or "game bgm" at this point. examine the intended moods of the piece - I imagine many of this can be composed by feel and playing around

OP, please make a note that this type of music is most often applied as an effective low-key enhancement to fill empty spaces (and even sometimes to tether "visually artistic cuts" together) by the flow of the music. Of course.
