Recommend me some manga/anime to drown myself in for a few days while I'm feeling like shit and getting over a breakup. I'm thinking of something gritty with little to no romance, obviously.
I've been considering Berserk, does it fit my request?

Jojo, as much as it's shilled now, does get gritty now and again with pretty severe and graphic injuries now and again.

Junji Ito is great for reading over a long period since his works consist of short stories and will stay gritty due to being horror stories. Relationships are a focus in some stories but it's never really treated all lovey dovey

Happy Sugar Life is about a pedophilic, sadistic high school girl who kidnaps a toddler and treats her like her child/girlfriend. Very gritty with murder, abuse, and suicide shown. Very good story though a less than happy ending

There's rarely any extreme physical violence but Kaiji is a very psychologically gritty anime about a man with a gambling addiction getting roped into extremely shitty and dire scenarios.

Berserk is a great manga and a decent pick for your request but the main character does have a romantic interest during one point of the story relatively early on.

I'm probably about to start trailing off miles away from what you would probably call gritty but I think Welcome To The NHK is a pretty gritty anime in a subtle way considering the main character's situation and state of mind but in its exterior it's pretty much a slice of life with comedic moments so I doubt it's a very good recommendation for you. Girls' Last Tour is also a very melancholy and maybe bitter slice of life with a cute exterior, which is probably more suited for you than my last recommendation.
