I used to be like an edgy weeb, but I got into movies with The Shawshank Redemption. I personally don't like TV series much and I'd rather just watch anime, but movies are really good.
Some I like:
The aforementioned Shawshank Redemption
Full Metal Jacket
Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Bastards (and basically anything by Quentin Tarantino, he's a bit wack but the shit he puts in his films always makes me laugh or is entertaining in some other way)
Saving Private Ryan
Star Wars (I know this is like "normie tier" but trust me, the movies are really good, the first 6 ones at least, the third trilogy is okay even thought lots of people love to shit on them, but I was very hyped for the 7th one when I watched it back in like 2015 or whenever it came out).
Regarding Star Wars specifically, I recommend you watch the movies in the order they were released.
So watch episode 4, 5, 6 first and then watch episode 1, 2, 3, and then 7, 8, 9. It sounds contradictory but trust me, I think it's better if you experience the Star Wars story by viewing the first trilogy and then seeing the prequels to see what got us there.
