>>1102390something thats really cool about the series is that there isn't necessarily a singular "culprit", so to speak. while each game has one character that you could generally consider to be the "mastermind", figuring out their identity never ruins the entire story, because just about every single other character has some kind of secret agenda or hidden backstory that all play into these intertwining revelations. in other words, even if you figure out the deal with one character, you only really end up with a small piece of the overall puzzle. in my opinion it manages to strike the absolute perfect balance of making you feel completely confused and overwhelmed just like the characters in the story, being strung along for the ride, while also giving you just enough subtle clues for you to be able to organically figure out certain twists on your own.
>>1102391the gameplay is decently frequent i guess. its certainly not just 100% text walls the whole way through, though obviously the majority of your playtime *will* be spent reading. i might be underselling the escape room puzzles a little because they are genuinely pretty interesting and break up the pace quite nicely (its just that they're kinda easy, though i think they improve over each entry in the series). all entires in the series also have branching paths and multiple routes, which is required to fully unravel all the disparate plot threads and overarching mysteries, while also giving you an extra sense of immersion and agency as to which rooms you want to enter and/or which characters you will decide to split up with at certain times. dont worry though, you dont have to be stuck re-reading previous scenes all the time or anything, there's a very helpful flowchart in the PC version of the game that make it pretty streamlined.
