Expect to have fingerprints and a picture taken at the station so they can run you through their computers. If you ever applied for an ID in the last decade they can probably match you these days. If you have any kind of social media with your picture in it they can probably match you (using

Beyond that it probably depends on how much you piss the pigs off so that one of them might decide to make you his mission. It will be pretty obvious you're not homeless. How long they can keep you really depends on your local laws - do you have a duty to carry ID? Do you have a duty to give accurate personal details to the police? Can they hold you in contempt if you refuse to answer things you are legally required to provide?
>>1111524>Surely it's better then having my money taken from me in fines if I did have identification.Just make sure that's how it works ahead of time - that you can choose and that jailtime really clears the fine (I know lots of US places make you pay for your own confinement). My country has decided that jailing someone costs the public money while fines give the public money so they really push for the latter. And any fine can be enforced for up to 30 years (of course with interest), so the more you owe the state the bigger their incentive to track you down and cash in, or you might accidentally reveal your identity 10 years down the line.
