>>1123149>during 2016Yeah but that's kind of my point, 2016 was the start of the rapid downward trend. You probably wouldn't notice it if you joined just then.
The elections brought a lot of people to this site, and very few of them actually improved it.
Also, can't say for certain, but if you did join in 2016, it's likely you were posting in some of the faster boards, and they are generally full of shit anyway so you're more likely to see low quality posts. The idiocy has just spread out across 4chan though. I do think even from 2016 to now, there's a vast difference in post quality, I honestly do. Your request is sort of evidence of that, since the level of discourse has become so low on 4chan you feel it's negatively affected your own writing ability. What's funny about that is I've actually considered that myself before.
Memes just became more regurgitated, and with even less thought. Soijak posting for instance, people just actively dodge real discussion. There are people with so little creativity all they can do is just copy the same shit over and over. Seriously, some of the shite churned out now is literally braindead, and it's not a wonder so many "4chan memes" basically just end up as mainstream ones now too.
And I don't hate memes, there are a lot of fun ones.
>but the slow threads i keep tabs on take weeks to hit 300-500 postsAh I see. Tbh, I can't tell if you're loosely losing the term shitposting, or if you're a genuine shitposter that feeds in to the mindless meme hivemind. I think it's the former, but if it's the latter then perhaps stop with the low effort shitposts.
I guess in the end you're just addicted to browsing, since you've got an endless array of content with which to waste time with. I think that's going to come down to willpower. Set limits for yourself. E.g. only X hours of browsing, or Y amount of threads.
You sound fine to me. Maybe respond to more posts anyway, they could encourage good discussion. Don't overthink
