About to watch Naruto for the first time but I got questions..
After the Pain arc, does the story turn to shit? I heard the War arc is absolutely awful. And that the main villain in that arc got defeated to shill some new villain who came out of nowhere. Is this true? Should I drop the show after the Pain arc?

I don't know for other people but the most hype I had watching Naruto was the War arc, it was the absolutely climax of the story where all was revealed and the stakes were at the highest. What most people dislike is one little thing that happens in the ending, you will see what I'm talking about

Safest choice: read the manga

War arc is entertaining, but there are some ass pulls. Its definitly still worth watching.

Manga is obviously better paced but the anime does have its moments. You could watch anime and skip filler and its ~40% less episodes. Check out the Power arc from shippuden even if you skip all other filler looks insane
