I started getting back into anime a while ago and I really enjoy it. I really like sci-fi, fantasy and even comfy ones. Yet, it's hard for me to imagine that those kind of "serious" animated series are only made in Japan. Is there any western animated series that "feels" like an anime? And I don't mean stuff that is just trying to ape it down to the tropes itself. I mean animated series in general. Even better if it has actual cinematography to it with dynamic angles and the likes instead of characters standing in flat planes no different from a Hanna Barbara cartoon.

All cartoons I've looked at and watched until now are either comedies or adventure shows for kids, wannabe anime series or superhero stuff that isn't that much different from normal Marvel/DC comics.
