It's blue in the thumbnail and red when you click it, it's a PNG file, not a GIF. How does he do it?

Something about the ICC profiles, and maybe because the thumbnail is a jpg.

There's a webm that pops up now and then showing how to do it. I have it downloaded, I just can't find it at the moment.
However I found this link with a step-by-step that shows how to accomplish it using the same premise.

This one uses Photoshop, but in the webm version they use GIMP iirc. It's likely floating around on Archived.moe but I couldn't readily find it at the moment.
