I am in a dire need of retrieving one file that is protected with password and is located in .rar file.
The .rar itself is NOT protected with password therefor programs such as "PassFab for RAR" or "RAR Password unlocker" do not work, when i try them they just say that the .rar has no passwords, which is true but the file that is inside is protected with password ... on google there is not anyone who has the same problem and solved it.
am i fucked?

Also when you say that the one specific file is password protected, how did you add the password to it?

i didnt, it is a rar file with results from my old maturita exam, the password was created by cermat, national shit that organizes the maturita exam, the password was lost in some letter they sent me years ago. i also asked cermat directly but they said they cant provide me the password anymore.

So the RAR IS encrypted but not the filenames?
I other words it IS the WinRar-provided encryption?
I would not get my hopes up too high. Old RAR as standard used 128 bit AES, which means the only known way is brute-force. Unless the pw was very short (like 8- letters only lowercase and numbers, no special characters) that can quickly lead to an expected time of decades and more.
Any remered ifo of the pw helps, like was it long? If you remember having to type in some long random string from the letter, having to look up and compare several times for example you can give up right away...
Best hope would be poting the file in joping of getting some distributed computing power from Anons using their machines in unison on it.
Still don't get your hopes up high, AES is nothing to "hack" and WinRar's implementation to this day is known as flawless, hence all those cracking tools are just brute-forcers.
So there is no "challenge".
