Is there any recent anime/manga that doesn't portray God/church/higher power as corrupt if not outright evil? Everyone knows Japan has a massive hard on for anything demon or darkness related. Is it too much to ask though for a Cleric or Paladin type or associated protag for once, instead of the typical grimdark or dude fraternizing with big titted demons?
