>>1216952>MonsterThis is a superbly written anime. Check the reviews, it's honestly a GOAT anime.
Summary: A brain surgeon is forced to hunt down a serial killer who he performed life-saving surgery on.
>Berserk (1997)Berserk is a famous manga known for the author's devotion to quality (he died before he finished). The manga has a few awful adaptations, but the 1997 anime is honestly 10/10. A great epic, tragic tale of brotherhood.
>Kaiji (season 1)An anime about a loser who ends up in high stakes gambles. This is a very witty show, the character is constantly on the edge and forced to use great wits to survive.
>MushishiYou asked for a deep and interesting narrative; this show is episodic (self-contained stories per episode) so I don't know if it fits your criteria. But each episode has a good story and the show is very calming. If you watch a single episode you'll see what I mean about it being calm.
Now, for my own favourite which people mostly sleep on:
>GungraveOverall, the show was something like a 7/10, but the final 2 episodes were seriously the best conclusion to a story that I've ever seen. It actually managed to bring me to tears as it recalled some part of my life to me haha. If you have an important bro in your life then I highly recommend this. But it's important that you skip episode 1. If you look online, you'll see it's quite unanimous opinion that you skip episode 1 of this anime.
