I used to do it myself and now instead I search by tags for things on anidb and other websites and generally pick whatever looks appealing. I also avoid reading reviews at all costs as I find them to be terribly obnoxious and a bad influence. This way I've managed to find more stuff I like than previously.
Instead of asking 4chan what ought to be good simply pick up whatever looks interesting and when nothing looks interesting do something else with your time. Simple as.
Also probably avoid /a/ if you can. Or just all of 4chan.
