No idea what happens to my memory

>got a new laptop for work
>has 250GB ssd
>install clean windows 10
>leave 100GB for the windows drive (C:)
>after installing all drivers and updates, and necessary softoware had 35GB left of memory in C:
>start it up today
>11GB free
>over 20GB have mysteriously appeared
>havent installed or downloaded anything

any idea what the fuck this shit is? I have disabled updates from account group settings, so it's not some surprising update. used some programs and the built-in software for analyzing the drive but there's literally nothing on it other than a win10 install, a photoshop, python java nodejs sublime text with a few plugins and WSL enabled with a fedora installed, which was enabled from day one so there's no way it's suddenly taking 20GB+ out of nowhere

im losing my shit with this piece of shit OS and i really am desperate

That's your first mistake: it's current year, you don't need a "windows drive".

Anyways, you have two options, both different tradeoffs between money and effort. If this is a "work laptop", this suggests your time is valuable and therefore the former is indicated:
- install a 1TB SSD ($70), and restore your current system image backup* and never worry about pointless crap like $3 of disk space again
- install winDirStat, run it as administrator, and bear in mind it doesn't handle hard links very well, then delete random shit until you have somewhere between 11GB and 35GB free

* which you're totally making, right? This computer is what makes you money, so you have a backup that'll get you back making money again within the hour, right?

I have successfully run Windows 10 on 32GB.

I have small server with 10TB specifically for that

The company let's us buy a new work laptop for 1000$ worth every 2 years, I decided to be a smartass and buy a 600$ and pocket the rest. Therefore this shit doesn't include upgrades of any sort.
I also have a few SSDs laying around for backup but I really don't wanna bring them with me because im certain 250GB must be completely enough for the retard windows and a few scripts and git forks.

no way, i havent installed anything other than proprietary paid software which we get to use for free, or a few plugins of sublime text and VLC player.

yes that's exactly what my complaint is, i started with 35 and expected to be left with 35 after not having written anything myself on the drive. is this so much to ask for?

sorry if I sound like a retard, i spent most of my time on linux and windows emulation for linux and colliding with the vintage windows experience for the first time seems to knock me off

Apparently Stremio keeps cached the watched movies and series, so I had like 20GB of cache just hanging there.
