>>1231596>What is the best anime for people who don't like anime?I would say Planetes, but you already watched it. How about:
No Game No Life
Arpeggio of Blue Steel movie Ars Nova DC
Darling in the FranXX episode 13 (too bad prior eps needed for context)
Death Parade
dot Hack Quantum (if you loved playing the PS2 games)
Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex
Halo Legends (good even if you haven't played Halo)
Kiki's Delivery Service movie (most contemporary ghibli)
La Puta movie (best ballsey ghibli adventure)
Log Horizon
Macross Do You Remember Love? movie (older style movie storytelling)
Macross Frontier movie 1 - The False Songstress (nice in home theatre)
Macross Frontier movie 2 - The Wings of Goodbye
Moyashimon (if you liked NHK Planetes style of mixing science into the story)
Outlaw Star english dub (better voice acting)
Read or Die 1 (OAV series)
Read or Die The TV (sequel)
Silver Spoon (if you liked Moyashimon)
Submarine 707R
Thunderbolt Fantasy
There's lots of great anime, but those were inappropriate for your requirement of trying to re-introduce anime to people who don't like anime. Maybe those people saw some anime that was mediocre and had a bad first impression.
However, some people cannot be persuaded if they have an IDEOLOGICAL HATE of what anime has - freedom of speech. Or they developed their impression from looking at NEET otaku obsess about anime and manga and light novels, thus they hated the general concept of anime based upon people who obsessively consume it. I know that some people do hate anime because it covers topics and ideas that they think should be censored such as meritocracy, uncensored presentation of controversial ideas, or situations that feminists hate. In such cases, those people will never change unless their political way of viewing anime changes.
