>>1232732>what does he mean?Hallucinations and paranoia are classic, even stereotypical symptoms of schizophrenia.
https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/conditions/schizophrenia/symptoms/>>1232730>i thought this shit was just a memeMemes have a grounding in reality. I've seen firsthand someone I was friendly with go from being "a bit odd, but happy and active and having friends and self-employed" to "evicted, arrested, and thinking everyone is trying to trick or harass him". The worst thing was when the managers of the flats he was staying in saw he'd been fired and needed some structure in his life and he had all the skills already and tried to get him a job as a handyman for their properties, he saw it as them trying to trick him, and every random thing that went wrong was them sneaking around and sabotaging him, and everyone was part of the same conspiracy to get him to take the pills that they claimed would make the paranoia go away.
I don't know where he is now, the last time I saw him he was getting on a bus with all his stuff in a duffel bag. I hope he's alright. Sorry for blogging at you.
>wouldn't hooking up on meds for your entire life be so worse ?It depends on your point of view. I don't have any first-hand experience of antipsychotics, but they're supposed to just take the paranoia and hallucinations away. Even if there's side effects, I think it would probably be worth it if it means I can think clearly and live in a world I understand where everyone isn't conspiring against me.
OP, your family love you. Even if they think mental illness is made up, they will surely believe a doctor. Go see a doctor and find out one way or the other. Even if it does turn out to be entirely psychosomatic, there's exercises you can do to stop it.
