>>1236316Taking breaks is necessary! Even in your final week when you know you should be crunching.
The thing is, if you're demotivated, thinking about how you're wasting time is the worst possible kind of thought process. You won't get anything done because you're demotivated, but as long as you're still trying to work your situation won't improve. You'll have a bad sleep, feel bad, and wake up feeling even worse. A viscous cycle. The solution: take a break! And don't feel guilty about it.
If you feel burned out right now, feel like you've wasted the whole day and feel like you're going to waste tomorrow as well, for the time being just completely stop worrying about it. Let loose and play videogames or watch TV/anime for the rest of the night. Mellow out and just enjoy it. Make sure you waste a few hours on it too, honestly don't worry. But make sure you try and get to bed a bit earlier.
Go into tomorrow with the intention to have a relaxing day as well, sleep in if you like, and just make it your goal by the end of the day to do some really basic progress. Or, if you're not happy with the piece and aren't that far in, consider trying a quick 10 min sketch to try and experiment with where you might want to take it.
If you can't escape the feeling of counter-productiveness, remember that the contest doesn't care about how much time you put in. If you grind all week feeling like you are now, vs relaxing all week and then going on a 24 hr rampage to finish up, you'll probably end up with the same quality of result anyway. Take as much time off as you need, because you'll almost certainly crunch through the final day(s) without planning for it. And even if you don't get it this time, you'll be able to do at least this much next time. On the contrary, imagine waking up tomorrow feeling motivated AF and smashing out a huge amount of progress.
