To play a video you only need adequate encoders. VLC should have them by default.

If you don't know use the stable one but basically the git releases contain all the changes as they are commited so it might break in any release.
As I said I use the git and have no problems so far.

Your system doesn't show the file extension (the .exe [executable, application as it says in the image]) in the file with the purple logo.

You have to click the file named "mpv" with the purple logo.
It will open the player window.
Search the video you want to play.
Keep pressing left click over the video and drag the mouse to the player window, then stop pressing the button.

It's portable, you don't need to install anything
Just keep the files somewhere you won't mess up anything (example: "C:\Program Files\mpv").
And create a shortcut of the "mpv" purple logo file (right click on the file, then "Create Shortcut") and move the shortcut to a place where you can find it easy like the desktop.

Or...

You can right click the video...
Then click on "Open with"...
Then "Choose another app"...
If you can't find mpv, scroll down, click "More apps"...
Scroll down again and click "Look for another app on this PC", search the mpv purple logo file and select it.

based choice also i can confirm that torrent does work i used the same one when i watched ghost in the shell and it ran flawlessly in mpv
might i suggest switching to linux? all you have to do to install mpv in arch is do the command yay mpv and it just werks
