>>1243395The crowds are massive. Keep in mind SDCC is where they world premiere trailers for MCU films. They have A list Hollywood actors doing panels. So there's a good reason why they attract massive crowds. There are also a ton more cosplayers, and a lot more women compared to the sausage fests of the 90s convention scenes. When your hobby attracts this much attention, of course things begin to change internally. Women see sexy big tittied characters like Power Girl and throw a fit about how comics objectify women and turn off the female fanbase, a fanbase that didn't even exist back in the 80s and 90s when those characters were being created. So those original fans, the nerdy boys from the 90s, are seeing the characters they grew up with getting redesigned, having their costumes changed to appease a brand new section of the fanbase that has infiltrated their hobby. The fact that these new fans, i.e. women, are the very same people who mocked them for reading comic books in their youth are now the ones demanding the comic book industry to change to fit their taste, you can kinda see why the old boys club would feel a little resentful. Same goes for other hobbies like video games. It's the same story across the board.
