They could withdraw the offer at any time, but assuming they don't, your legal path is:
- transfer windows 10 installation to a new motherboard (or laptop), either by swapping the drive or by imaging it
- transfer windows 10 license using your microsoft account or by contacting support (or it sometimes just transfers)
- it will upgrade to 11 automatically when it sees supported hardware, or you can use the upgrade assistant

It will be invalid next month if you are using Win10 version 20H2. You need to have version 21H1 or 21H2 to be able to get security updates through 2025.

You can easily check to see which version of Win10 you are running. On the taskbar, click on the magnifying glass search tool and type "winver" without the quotes. Then press RETURN. You will see the version number.

You should have updated to version 21H2 already through the Windows Update service. I saw the update for 22H* today on my update assistant. As Microsoft said back for the huge 21H2 release that was basically the end of the real new feature installs for Win10 now that dmca rights management Win11 is the new OS. That means major updates for Win10 will essentially be annual in the Oct to Nov timeframe. Monthly quality of life updates may occur thereafter to the 2025 expiration date.

Oh my, I must have been breathing too many gas fumes. I meant to say 2024 and not 2025. In order to have updates after june 2024 up into may 2025, you need version 22H2 installed as indicated below.

Stop being so sensationalist. The license being invalid would entail the OS pulling a sulk and not letting you use it (or at least not without a pile of complaining).

If you want to, you can install original Windows 10 and not let it update. The license remains valid, both in the legal sense, and in the DRM sense.
