Not true, they host files for /gd/, /po/ and /qst/.
Storing thumbnails is important too. They have a lot the other archives don't for some reason.
The guy also hosts some other archives,
ArchiveOfSins.com, TheBarchive.com, 4chanarchives.com, randomarchive.com and 4archive.org to be exact.
And those mostly hold files.

I noticed that when I use archive.moe to search for shit on /b/ it only goes back so far, whereas searching on thebarchive goes back farther.
