i answer requests out of habit and i thought that was the case for a lot of other posters
if something is causing you unnecessary distress, then don't push yourself to do it
it's not that you shouldn't expect a thanks, but you should also expect nothing as well
both are common possibilities

If they don't thank me, it doesn't bother me, so I don't have to deal with anything. It would be nice if they confirmed their request was fulfilled but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.
