Ok, I'm trying to remember an old anime. It was either from the 80s or 90s. I don't remember what the overall plot was about but I vividly remember one scene.

In the scene a woman falls down a long metal or concrete shaft into a large pool of blood. In the pool of blood is floating loads of corpses of dead children.
She kind of goes crazy and starts cradling one of the corpses like it was her child and I think the other characters just like, leave her there.

Any help would be appreciated.
