I’m bringing some anime over to a friend’s house tomorrow. He’s a noob anime watcher so he’s only seen shit like Hunter x Hunter, YuYu Hakusho, BNHA, etc..
I want to introduce him to non-battle shounen shit. What should I bring with me? Two shows that I plan on bringing are Hidamari Sketch and Joshiraku.

I'll second Cowboy Bebop and Space Dandy, and add in Mushishi. The benefit of these three is that they only need one episode to get a good grasp on what the shows are like. Kaiji is also a good choice, as long as your friend isn't a pleb that gets filtered by the character designs

I think the "one episode to get a good grasp" doesn't really work for Space Dandy, mostly because every episode is different and a couple in the middle and especially in the end aren't like the first one at all.
I'll toss another vote for Cowboy Bebop into the hat, though. That's a great one, too.
