This is genetically advantageous and a reflection of the evolutionary strategy that humans adopted in becoming the social species that we are today. It just makes sense, if you think about it, putting the interests of those like yourself first means that genetics like yours are more likely to succeed. People establish ethnic enclaves, they naturally separate themselves by race because they are inclined to. But it's more than superficial, different peoples have different group psychology. There's no reason to believe otherwise. Why would you assume that morphologically we all have developed different features, but psychologically we all stayed exactly the same? You only need to observe the world around you to see that different peoples behave differently and have different... mental capacities. Our different group psychologies have led to different cultures with different value systems, e.g. different conceptions of right and wrong. These value systems don't exist in inert matter, they are carried in the worldviews of peoples. In fact, Lovecraft described tradition as a necessary tool for civilizations to navigate the world, i.e. how we arrange and make sense of things that don't have inborn meaning. If your predisposition, genetically, is to a value system like a certain group of people, then you have a moral imperative to protect the interests of those people.
