Im too retarded to read the arch wiki

I wanna get good with computers so I can install arch linux or something and fix any problems that might come up. The problem is just that I don't understand anything written on the arch wiki.

Are there any books I can read that will teach me some vocabulary and concepts in plain English, such that I can make use of the arch wiki and fix my problems?

You like to read? The Gentoo wiki is much better, much more comprehensive too... If there's a concept you don't understand it's usually highlighted and bold as a link that you can click on to read a full article about it. Gentoo is great! I would use it over Arch any day. Um provided I spent a few days setting it up first, lol. Yes, DAYS.

Also remember about the `man` and `info` commands. If you run `info` with nothing it shows a huge list of all the programs with info pages. `info coreutils` gives you information on the GNU coreutils which is useful for learning the basic commands in GNU/Linux. If you don't have them installed you should install the linux man pages. (Usually called man-pages or linux-man-pages).

The arch wiki is best for things specific to arch (the package manager, installing the system) but it doesn't offer a comprehensive overview of what a program can do. man pages and info pages are usually written by the people who wrote the software so they give you a lot more information.

Also learn how to search for packages using a package manager if you don't already know. (eg. apt search text editor).

As he said you like to read, there it is. Arch docs are very shitty by comparison, Gentoo is a lot more thorough and even when I was using Arch I ended up finding what I needed on the Gentoo wiki a lot of the time.

The Gentoo user forums are a lot more helpful, too. It's not a weird and gay stack overflow wannabe like the Arch community.
