>>1390321that's a good question. they are both "playing pretend" I guess, but one much more so than the other. the married straight couple are already the core elements of a family and represent the potential for a family (reproductuve capability). adopting a child is still not technically family, but at least the experience for all is essentially the same. however, when two men do the same, it is much further away from what an actual family is. just because two people love each other and raise a non blood related third entity, it does not make it a family. if we were to play loose with the term family, we may as well also say that 6 men in a polygamous relationship who all "parent" the little boy they adpoted is also a family. hopefulyl you can see how, the further we stray from the actual definition of family, the more absurd the pretending is.
